I feel a responsibility to my backyard. I want it to be taken care of and protected. – Annie Leibovitz

Backyard Maintenance

Creating a beautiful backyard isn’t something that comes up in real estate flipping tips very often. If you look at the statistics, people spend most of their time in the kitchen. Aside from the backyard, it’s one of my favorite places to renovate.

Keep Clean

Basic maintenance – Remove any dead grass and add grass seed that’s designed for shade or full sun, depending. Spread the seed evenly across the bare patch. Water the area you’ll want to keep the patch moist, so lightly water once a day until the seed germinates and the new grass gets about one inch tall.

Decks and Patios

Decks and Patios –  If the home doesn’t already have a deck or patio, this could be a great opportunity to add some extra value to the property. Birds sang in the mature trees that ringed the deck and there was a country smell of spring. A nice patio is a worthwhile investment.

Benefits of Nature

The Value of Trees – The value of the trees is essential for the earth. Trees are the most valuable for the land. It provides the food and oxygen.

Fix It

Fix the Fences – Does the backyard have a fence? Make sure it’s in good condition and is free of holes and gaps. The best way to fix a fence on a lean is to remove the leaning post, and replace it with a new one.
